The 541 Optical Compressor is a 500-series feedback style compressor, designed for smooth, unobtrusive gain reduction. The 541 utilizes a pair of Silonex optocouplers - one for gain reduction and one for subtractive metering.
The 541's control set is minimal, including a ten-segment LED gain reduction meter, a threshold control operating in the dbx-style counterclockwise direction with a very arbitrary orientation, and makeup gain.
There is also a very big yellow lighted IN switch which controls relay bypassing. An internal DIP switch selects linking of two or more units.
The XQP 541 conforms to API's 500-series specifications and has been approved by the VPR Alliance.
