Sontronics DrumPack Plus 7-Piece Condenser Microphone Set for Drums

Sontronics DrumPack Plus-PRE-ORDER NOW!

The Sontronics DrumPack Plus is a seven-piece set of condenser microphones with design-specific characteristics focused on drum kit and percussion recording with results rivaling mics at ten times the price.

The 7-piece DrumPack Plus features Sontronics award-winning DM-series dedicated DM-series drum condenser mics and also includes a pair of STC-10 pencil condensers for overheads. So, even if you do have a favorite pair of ribbons or LDCs for overheads in the studio, there’s nothing wrong with having options-particularly with the price-performance ratio of the Sontronics STC-10. For example, you may find yourself recording live or doing sound reinforcement. Those expensive ribbon mics aren’t going to want to leave home, plus, they won’t cut through a loud stage mix like the Sontronics STC-10 will. Let’s say you’re tracking in a room that’s heavy in the low mids. A small-diaphragm condenser, such as the STC-10 will capture the sound of the top kit without the added boxiness of the room. Plus, if you’re dealing with harsh cymbals, or simply miss the high-end roll-off of your ribbon mics, the STC-10 has a high-frequency roll-off that gives you a smooth high-end and clarity while taming the harshness of certain cymbals-just like a ribbon mic. Keep in mind that the STC-10 is a multi-purpose pencil condenser that can be used on percussion, acoustic guitar, and other instruments. In short, the Sontronics DrumPack Plus gives you everything you need to mic a drum kit with stellar sound, plus a little extra.

Sontronics DrumPack Plus-Behind the Grille

Sontronics DM-1B kick drum and bass mic

Thanks to its high sensitivity, low self-noise, -15dB attenuation pad, and the ability to handle up to 155dB SPL, the DM-1B delivers outstanding results on kick drum and also sounds fantastic on bass guitar cabinets, low brass and woodwind, tenor and baritone sax and even male vocals. Its incredible power handling and highly compliant diaphragm enable it to capture all the attack, resonance, and energy from your kick drum and other bass instruments like nothing you've ever heard before. The DM-1B is designed with its fixed cardioid capsule facing out of the top end of the microphone (end-address style) and can be positioned either to the front head of the drum or even pushed towards or slightly inside the sound hole of the kick drum. The DM-1B comes with its adjustable yoke mount in a sturdy aluminum flight case and, like all Sontronics microphones, is covered by lifetime warranty.

Sontronics DM-1S snare microphone

The DM-1S is a high-sensitivity (hotter output), small-diaphragm condenser mic with a -10dB attenuation pad that’s capable of capturing up to an impressive 135db SPL. Along with a highly compliant, transient-friendly diaphragm and wide frequency response, the DM-1S is designed to capture all the classic characteristics of your snare; the snap, crack, rattle, and punch that drive a mix. The DM-1S has slightly different frequency response than its sister mic, the DM-1T tom mic, in order to provide exceptional results for their respective specialties: snare and toms. The DM-1S comes with a mic clip that lets you set up quickly and position your mic wherever you need it-either on a mic stand or an additional rim mount. Like all Sontronics microphones, the DM-1S is covered by lifetime warranty.

Sontronics DM-1T tom microphone

The DM-1T is a small-diaphragm condenser mic with a -10dB attenuation pad, capable of capturing up to an impressive 135db SPL. The DM-1T is designed to capture all the classic characteristics of your drum; the slap, boom, and resonance of your tom. The DM-1T has slightly different frequency response than its sister mic, the DM-1S snare mic, in order to provide exceptional results, for their respective specialties: toms and snare. The DM-1T comes with a mic clip that lets you set up quickly and position your mic wherever you need it-either on a mic stand or an additional rim mount. Like all Sontronics microphones, the DM-1T is covered by lifetime warranty.

Sontronics STC-10 overhead pencil mics

The STC-10 cardioid condenser microphones (two of which are included in the DrumPack Plus set) boast two-stage pad and filter controls and an extremely precise response, featuring Sontronics' signature smooth high-frequency roll-off. As a pair, they are amazing as drum kit overheads, but they also sound stunning whether used individually for solo percussion, woodwind or stringed instruments, but also together for stereo-miking acoustic guitar, piano and ensemble.

Sontronics DrumPack recommended uses:

  • Drum kit and percussion
  • DM-1B: Kick drum, orchestral bass drum, bass guitar cabinet, low brass and woodwind, tenor/baritone sax, male vocals
  • DM-1S: Snare drum, cajon, djembe
  • DM-1T: Toms, bongos, congas
  • STC-10: Overheads, stereo miking, acoustic guitar, individually for solo percussion, solo strings, theater, video

What the pros are saying about the DM series:

Sontronics mics have received rave reviews, awards, and are featured on the touring kits and studio set-ups of major drummers including Dave Grohl, Aerosmith's Joey Kramer, Dom Howard of Muse, and Blur's Dave Rowntree.

User quotes:

"We were A/B testing the Sontronics drum mics set up against some thousand-pound mics and we had to keep checking the tracks because the Sontronics mics sounded as good if not better than the expensive ones. We were totally blown away!" Mark Rankin, producer (Florence & The Machine, Adele, Plan B, Queens of the Stone Age)

"I'm so impressed by the sound of these mics (DM-1S/T) for all my studio and live performances in all genres (rock, jazz, world music), I rely on these mics. Just amazing." - Marito Marques, Drummer/Producer

"The DM-1B sounds better than my vintage Neumann U47fet, which is saying something, and the DM-1S is one of the best close mics I have ever used. Amazing!" - Andy Gray, producer/composer (Radiohead, Gary Numan, Enter Shikari, TT3D, CSI Miami)

"DM-1B sounds absolutely brilliant, right out of the box, with no need for any EQ. The DM-1B, DM-1T, and DM-1S truly capture my drums without any need for any enhancement. The results are amazing!" - Pete Parada, drummer (My Chemical Romance, The Offspring)
