PAD Expands Resonant Digital With Audient Console Solution

PAD Expands Resonant Digital With Audient Console Solution

The Challenge: Bring a big new sound to a fast-growing music mixing/recording facility.

The Solution:Resonant Digital is a boutique recording studio owned by Kenevan McConnon in Central Pennsylvania,” says Dave Malekpour, President of PAD. “We first met Kenevan three years ago when we helped him equip his then-new studio with mic pres and other equipment, and since then he’s been very busy recording and producing local artists. Recently, however, he decided he wanted to change to a console that was going to add to the signal for mixing or tracking a band.

“Professional Audio Design understands that in an owner-operated facility like this, the producer/engineer is looking for tools that will help them with their production, sound amazing, but still be space-and-budget friendly. Here, we specified the Audient ACS 8024 console with a Digidesign Command 8 center. The Audient has many great features similar to an SSL, such as advanced ergonomics and terrific sound quality, that give him a competitive advantage over people mixing in the box. The Audient also allows you to put a Didigesign Command 8 flat panel display in the middle so you have a nice analog console, but with Digi control right in the sweet spot.

“Our Technical Services Group delivered the Audient to Kenevan in Philadelphia, with a complete wiring package. We do all the intricate cable connections here at our facility in Rockland, MA, and deliver a turnkey system 100% fully functioning and integrated to Pro Tools onsite. As a result, Kenevan got a system that was up immediately and allowed him to focus on what he does best – music production – and work the way he wants.”

Kenevan adds: “An 80 input analogue console is an ironic upgrade path for a studio conceived with ‘in the box’ workflow in mind. However the sonic benefits of the new console blow away any workflow compromises. I love this desk!”
